Hangover Cure : Milk Thistle Porridge

This recipe is delicious when you are still half sauced and in search for an end to your bender misery. Add fresh fruit or other superfoods like Acai berries, cacao nibs, or maca and you have a complete breakfast!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup milk thistle, soaked overnight
1/4 cup flax seedssoaked in 1/2 cup water overnight
3-4 soaked organic dried apricots
1 tbsp agave nectar
1 tbsp maca
1 tbsp VeganProtein powder
1 tsp cinnamon

Process all the ingredients in a food processor with the “S” blade until a thick porridge is achieved. Add you favorite nut mylk to achieve the consistency you want.

Happy Hippie Fruit Roll Ups

During my dehydrator obsession I discovered that you can make your very own Fruit Roll Ups! They are nothing like those colourful, sugar-filled chemical monster youre mom wouldnt buy your for your school lunch snack. No, they are way, wayyyy better. And super nutritious!

The Happy Hippie Fruity Fruit Roll Ups

2 ripe mangoes, peeled

2 cups strawberries
1 apple, cored

1 pear, cored

1 banana
3/4 cup hemp seeds

  • Blend all ingredients together in a high powered blender
  • Spread out evenly and thinly on teflex sheets, the edges always dehydrate faster so make sure that it is thicker on the outside.
  • Dehydrate at about 135 for about 3 hours
  • Flip them over and remove the sheet. Continue dehydrating for another 2 hours

Use whatever fruit you have laying around! This is a great way to use that fruit that is about to go bad.

Super Food: Hemp, Not Just for Hippies

Hemp is one food you should not live without. Come back… I didn’t say it was time for your joint… It contains only trace elements of THC, but is packed with an incredible amount of fatty acids, minerals and protein. Hemp has the ideal ratio of omega 3 and 6. A U.S. study found a balanced omega ratio reduces the risk of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), sudden cardiac death, and has anti-inflammatory benefits that can decrease symptoms arthritis. Hemp has a full amino acid spectrum—meaning it provides a well-balanced, complete protein source, and amino acids are important for growth and maintenance of body tissue. In fact, in times of famine, some civilizations have survived solely on hemp and water. Hemp is also an easily digested protein. Seeeee it’s not just for hippies.

Use these magical seeds the same way you would any other. Blend with fruit and juices in smoothies; or use them as salad toppers. Hemp seeds can also be found in oil form. You can mix it into a salad dressing, but don’t try cooking with it; Hemp oil isn’t heat stable. OR try Chocolate Hemp Milk, on it’s own or in your granola for a well deserved treat.

Try this yummy dip with your favorite crackers or fresh veggies! I love it on roasted portobello mushrooms.

Cauliflower Hemp Dip

1/4 cup chopped onion

1/4 of a zucchini

2 cups of raw cauliflower

handful of fresh basil

1 tsp Himalayan rock salt

1/2 cup hemp seeds

1/4 cup water

1-2 tsp miso

1/8 tsp cayenne

Blend or process  all ingredients until smooth.
