I like Green Smoothies because they look like swampy lagoon water. I like food with fun colours created by nature and all its beauty. The idea of drinking blended greens might be a weird concept to wrap your head around, but is a great way to get those nutrients fast. Victoria Butenko introduced the world to her particular style of blending greens and folks went bananas over it. I like to combine fruits to make it a bit sweeter and pleasant to drink. Green smoothies are incredible energy boosters and help with mental clarity and anti-aging.
Below is a simple base for green smoothies. I use this then add other ingredients as my mood and cravings change from day to day. Try with blueberries, bananas, pineapple or agave nectar.
1 cup kale
1 cup spinach
1 cup water
Juice of 1 lemon
Toss all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend until smooth.
